the long-time-no-post post

Hey. Long time no see...sorry about that. The longer I spend sans laptop the more I think bah, who needs computers anyway? And then I feel like watching some Scrubs or Criminal Minds, and I remember. :)

Anyway, here I am. And the big thing that's happened between that last post and this is that we've acquired some baby animals. A goat, V-toe, and a lamb, Darby, who both have to be bottle-fed for the next few weeks. A neighbour, A, got them as a new experience for her kids, and then realized how much work they are and asked for help. Of course, because I love animals and babies and why not do everything new, I said I'd help out. So now they alternate between her house and ours, and I go over sometimes to do the feeding. They spent the weekend in our front porch area, in a giant cardboard box (M and I spent Friday afternoon trying to work out how to construct something for them from stuff lying around a la chickenwire or cement bricks. We ended up cruising through Scarriff on a box-hunt. It worked out well. :)). Then we had to put a smaller box in the big box, so the little lamb (who'd caught a cold) was warm enough. Aw. So, all was lovely until I tried to feed them on my own (especially at the midnight feeding)...and V-toe wouldn't drink any milk no matter what I did...and in my exhausted and worried emotional state I over-reacted, bursting into tears and bawling "I'll never be able to have babies, I make a terrible mother, this goat is going to die on me!". Mm. Rational. Anyway, he eventually did start eating and then I was really happy and able to put things back in perspective. I'll try and get pictures of them up here...I made a video, but the Internet apparently doesn't like it cause it won't download. Whatever.

Ok. In other news, I finished the play (to be performed by the Camphill Mountshannon community, hopefully as part of the Mountshannon Arts Festival in the latter half of May). I'm excited to do a read-through (later this week), mostly cause it's the first time I've seriously written a play with more than a handful of characters (there are 10, maybe 11 in this one)...and cause I tailored characters to community members...so I want to see how that goes down. :)

Also, off to see Al next week, in her to-be-performed-in-Edinborough-Fringe-Fest play...it sounds amazing, and I'm so excited I can't even think about it or I squeak. Also, the last play I've seen was the one done by the Mountshannon theatre group, called "Rosie and Starwars". Totally Irish, mm, and definitely community theatre. Not so mm...but it had its moments, and a few good actors. Worth it, anyway, as theatre always is. And then Al and I get St. Patty's together! Huzzah!

Also, might be moving into the other house (Inis) in the community, because a new resident is in a trial stage and if she comes another female coworker is needed down there. Not yet sure how I feel about that...I want to experience Inis life, cause it has a totally different rhythm than in Clai...but I feel really comfortable around R. Almost like I just fit in with her kids. And we all know how I like letting adults deal with responsible things and deciding what to do and all that. :) Anyway, I don't know. I'll keep you all posted, anyway.

And that's about all I can think of right now.
I hope all is well with all of you.

Love you and miss you, to pieces.

LOVE,
me
